Vinay Kumar Jaiswal, Alumnus IMT CDL – “The IMT CDL Course Helped Me Tweak What Was I doing Earlier By Redefining My Methodology.”

Vinay Kumar Jaiswal had reached a point in his career where an MBA degree was not a necessity for him, but a requirement of his job and his employers – the Swedish global telecom giant, Ericsson Global India. A regular, campus-based MBA would have been a negative career choice, as Ericsson wanted him to continue working and find a programme flexible enough to suit his needs. For Vinay, the search for an ideal PGDM programme ended with IMT CDL.

“I found IMT CDL perfect for my needs. I was attending classes over the weekends, the exams were pre-scheduled; I could pre-plan my work-study balance. The IMT-CDL program is at par with any regular PGDM course as far as curriculum is concerned; all relevant topics are covered beautifully. The text books provided by IMT-CDL are so structured that you do not need any other book for the reference. They are just perfect, very condensed and very crisp to gain the knowledge in Management. The standards of course material is set very high. Come to think of it, I did not realise when those 3 years went by; everything at IMT CDL was so systematic and planned and fitted in beautifully with my scheme of things.”

Today, Vinay Kumar Jaiswal is a part of the top management at Ericsson. As a Director, his resource field is global emergencies. He believes that doing the course at IMT CDL has been one of the most important decisions for him, both career-wise and personally.

“When you are sitting at a Top Management position, there are three attributes absolutely critical to your personality – leadership, communication skills and good knowledge of finance. IMT CDL helped me hone my financial management skills. It made me realise that, in the final analysis, doing business is all about knowing your finances, first and foremost. Prior to IMT CDL, I was doing a fairly good job of managing my responsibilities. But the IMT CDL course helped me to tweak what I was doing earlier by redefining my methodology. It helped me sharpen my skills in all the three areas mentioned above. Human Resource, especially, is covered remarkably well in the IMT CDL curriculum, along with leadership skills and behaviour.”

As an IMT CDL alumnus, Vinay feels he is much better equipped and has the backing of a formal knowledge base to match his domain expertise in the telecom sector. It reflects in his ability and confidence in handling crisis situations for customers, both Indian and global.

Ashish Soni, Alumnus IMT CDL – “My PGDBM In International Business From IMT CDL Helped Me Prepare Myself To Contribute Meaningfully To Indo Rama’s Foray Into International Markets.”

Ashish Soni’s growth story is very similar – almost symbiotic – to the Organisations he served. Way back in 2004, Indocount Choongnam Textiles Limited, an Indo-Korean Joint Venture Company – was the plane where Ashish Soni started out to make rapid foray into the international business. Ashish Soni, newly assigned to the export marketing team of Indocount Choongnam at that point of time, chose to persue his PGDBM in International Business from IMT CDL, so that he would be well-versed with the nuances of International trade and procedures, that he was bound to encounter shortly. He graduated from IMT CDL in 2009 and by that time globalization of businesses was on fast track. Ashish is with Indo Rama Synthetics (India) Limited today which is a well known brand with well spread out wings in the International market. Today, the Indo Rama Group has a strong presence in Indonesia, Thailand, USA, Nepal, and Sri Lanka besides India with Ashish Soni on board as a part of the high achieving professional team of the export marketing division.

“The best thing about my job is the sense of delivering with responsibility that has continuous scope of improvement all the time and the satisfaction level that is derived thereafter. In Indo Rama, every department is inevitably linked to the export marketing division.”

Ashish feels that for any manager to succeed, it is critically important that he/ she gain a thorough understanding of the concepts and must have complete understanding of the requirement/s with maximum related knowledge to deliver his/her best. His PGDBM in International Business from IMT CDL helped him do just that.

“Leadership qualities are must for managers since they have to manage but co-ordination, co-operation and constant motivation comes even before that as the same are absolutely essential for getting things done; these abilities are a pre-cursor to leadership. In my job, I have to coordinate with internal and external environment like many departments, people, institutions, govt. agencies and most importantly the overseas customers. So the communication skills, maturity, experience,  co-ordination and positively connecting capabilities make you more acceptable figure in the leadership role, as and when it happens.”

Ashish Soni has been closely following the innovations at IMT CDL and feels that the WebEx module – Live video classes online – will certainly add great value to the various IMT CDL courses. He advise his juniors at IMT CDL to choose courses which are aligned with their professional aspirations, after due thought and with a lot of care.

“Do what you want to do, be sincere and thorough in your approach. Begin by preparing yourself with a professional courses offered by the IMT CDL.”

Geetika Trivedi , Alumnus IMT CDL – “I Was Pleasantly Surprised To See Immense Market Appreciation For IMT CDL. Wherever I Dropped My Resume It Was Accepted On The Power Of The IMT Brand.”

There are some students, who are so convinced in the philosophy and ambience of the educational institute they come from, that they remain associated with their alma mater always. Geetika Trivedi is one such IMT CDL alumni. Despite having her own successful entrepreneurial set-up in the form of ‘Knowledge Point’ in Noida, Geetika dedicates time to IMT CDL, as a regular faculty. The fact that she is also pursuing an MPhil and PhD from IGNOU makes this even more commendable.

“On a typical day I am at ‘Knowledge Point’ by 10 o’clock, to oversee its smooth functioning, as well as teach. Twice a week I’m at the Maidangarhi campus of IGNOU for my MPhil-PhD classes, which start at 2’o clock. Over weekends – especially Sundays – I’m either at Dilshad Garden or Noida, as per schedule, to take 2-3 classes for the IMT CDL program. My relation with IMT CDL has come a full circle; from attending weekend classes… to taking weekend classes.”

Geetika believes it’s the bare minimum she can do for the Institution that has given her the pride of being an achiever. She relates how, after her PGDM from IMT CDL, wherever she dropped her resume she always received an interview call, on the sheer power of the IMT-brand. Geetika thinks that the strength of IMT CDL lies in its content, the examination scheme, and the ability to deliver its content on the technological backbone. As an edupreneur and a teacher, Geetika feels that premium distance learning programmes like IMT CDL are going to be the norm in the future.

“Distance Learning Programmes of premium institutes like IMT CDL are treated at par with the best MBA institutes in the country. Many of the IMT CDL alumni are working professionals – doctors, engineer and even government servants. The trend in the corporate world today is to have the employees do an MBA, without having them leave the organisation.”

Priyanka Sehgal, IMT CDL Alumnus – “Even While I Was Learning About MIS From The Faculty, The Books And Discussions At IMT CDL , I Had The Oppurtunity Of Implementing It Almost Real-Time At Work.”

Priyanka Sehgal is a classic example of the growing numbers of IMT CDL alumni for whom the best distance learning program of the country, IMT CDL, was not a matter of compulsion, but of choice. As a matter of fact, Priyanka had converted the regular PGDM program of IMT, after having scored quite well in her CAT exams. She even began her regular classes, but realised very soon that she did not want to quit her job. Priyanka also found the travelling – all the way from Janakpuri to Ghaziabad, and back – impossibly tiring. She quickly shifted to the contact program of IMT, and began taking the regular evening classes at Connaught Place, New Delhi. This too was not the way forward for her, as she would reach back home very late in the night. It was at this point that she decided to explore DLP or Distance Learning Programs. The feedback she got from her colleagues and friends was that when it comes to Distance Learning Programs, IMT CDL is unbeatable.

“The feedback regarding IMT CDL was amazing. IMT CDL had 3-4 hours of weekend classes with a dedicated, regular faculty, whereas most of the other DLP’s had about an hour long interaction with faculty from their other programs being pulled out on an ad hoc basis. Over and above, the syllabus of IMT CDL looked thoroughly professional, with a lot of stress on industry applications. Clearly IMT CDL was the only DLP which had a system in place. I was really impressed by the fact, that while other DLP’s seemed to wash their hands of their students by handing out objective question papers which are easier from the scoring and evaluation perspectives, IMT CDL tested us with proper subjective type question papers, which is a serious form of assessment.”

Today, Priyanka Sehgal wears the multiple hats of Director, Strategic Planning of Fireball India, one of the best known 360-degrees security solutions provider of the country, and the Director, Strategic Planning, OSSIM – the famed security training institute born out of an Indo-British joint venture – a partner organisation of Fireball India. Priyanka feels that not a day goes by when the learning at IMT CDL does not come handy to her.

“I’ve been with this organization for the last 12 years. Every month, every year we land new projects. We get the directions from the top management, and are handed our new team, after which it is entirely upto us to make out own project plans and manage our projects. Being a part of the IMT CDL alumni has helped me like anything. Infact, even while I was learning about MIS (Management Information System) through the faculty, the books and discussions at IMT CDL, I had the opportunity of implementing almost real-time at work. Even today, when I go across for a presentation to my customers, I find that the name of IMT is synonymous with management expertise.”
